Bloody Chickentown!!

I had never heard of John Cooper Clark I'm ashamed to say until while I was watching the latest episode of the Sopranos tonight and playing at the end was a tune which really stuck in my head! Of course I had to find out what it was and to my suprise found it was a version of the famous Salford punk poet's Chickentown!! I've started to watch his videos on YouTube and not only is he a great poet, he is a great comedian too! Why are Northerners so bloody good at this kind of thing!! (Not sounding like a real patronising soft Southerner there of course!!)

I had never really taken any notice of Marco Pierre White before I saw him on the current series of Hells Kitchen (maybe because I thought he was French!). Once you get past the all too familiar reality TV you begin to realise you are in the presence of a genius. He talks with authority and charisma, a man with passion and deeper understanding as to what he wants from the food he is cooking - "Mother Nature is the true artist" is my favourite line of his!
